Silhouette of St. Wenceslas statue

Quarter: Wenceslas Square Theme: Artworks

On Wenceslas Square in the centre of Prague just few steps from the National Museum you will find the most famous statue in the Czech Republic – it is what a surprise statue of St. Wenceslas.

Author of this unique horsey statue is Josef Vaclav Myslbek and it comes from 1912. Fascinating is that the horse stands on two legs only.

Statue of Saint Wenceslas on the horse is the most popular meeting point not only for tourists but also for locals so you can expected crowd around this place all the time and it is very difficult to take picture of entire monument without people.
But luckily the plinth of the statue is high enough ;-)
